Sustainable cost-effective air source heat pump upgrade

Hospitality
Belle Isle Working Men's Club
Leeds

Belle Isle WMC serves as a vital hub for its local community, providing entertainment and social opportunities for its members. As a long-standing establishment, the club faced the challenge of maintaining a comfortable environment while controlling escalating energy costs.

The challenge

The club's large property was originally equipped with a combination of air conditioning and gas central heating, with the latter being the primary heating source. With the dramatic rise in energy prices, Belle Isle WMC needed to find a sustainable, cost-effective heating solution to ensure the club's long-term financial viability. They needed to reduce their energy consumption without compromising the comfort of their members.

The solution

As a long-time customer of Smart Projects, Belle Isle WMC collaborated closely with the team to develop a phased approach to modernising their heating system. Smart Projects understood the club's needs and designed a solution to minimise disruption while maximising efficiency. The solution involved a phased upgrade of the heating systems across the entire venue, including the snooker hall, lounge, concert hall, and foyer. A key component of this upgrade was the replacement of the old, inefficient gas boiler with a new air source heat pump. This strategic replacement allowed for more efficient energy usage and dramatically lowering operating costs.

The result

Smart Projects completed the phased installation, upgrading the heating infrastructure across the club. Smart Projects delivered a more energy-efficient and cost-effective heating system by replacing the outdated gas boiler with an air-source heat pump. This phased plan allowed for financial flexibility, allowing Belle Isle to spread the project's cost without a significant upfront investment.

From start to finish the project as part of a phased plan took 18 months.

In Summary
Smart Projects helped Belle Isle WMC overcome the challenge of rising energy costs by implementing a strategic, phased upgrade of their heating system. The result is a more comfortable, cost-effective, and sustainable future for this valued community hub.

Ashley and the team at Smart Projects have been great, from survey all the way through to completion. The Club is now warmer and costs less to operate.
